CosyTherm can be used in most settings where prevention of hypothermia in babies is required. The need for active warming is usually due to poor thermoregulation in neonates, particularly if they are pre-term or low birth-weight.
Neonatal Intensive Care and Special Care Baby Units
CosyTherm is ideally suited for use in Neonatal Intensive Care (NICU) or Special Care Baby Units (SCBU). It can be used as a "step down" facility following incubator nursing to help infants still at risk of poor thermoregulation. CosyTherm can also be used instead of an incubator where only the warming function is needed.
Delivery Suite
The risk of hypothermia in the delivery suite has been well documented. CosyTherm provides a simple, effective and affordable solution for this clinical environment that does not impede access to the baby and provides warmth quickly and effectively. The CosyTherm mattress can be easily fitted in a radiant warmer to give added warming in challenging cases.
Post-Natal Wards
Active warming can also be of significant benefit for babies in a normal post-natal setting. This is particularly true for pre-term and low birth-weight infants. Warming applied as routine care can prevent the need for more intensive treatment later. Simplcity of operation is of particular benefit in this area.
Neonatal Transport
CosyTherm can also be adapted for use in transport and patient transfer situations. The compact, lightweight design, combined with battery operation and DC power input make it a perfect solution for these applications.
