Inditherm has been supplying the water utility industry for some time
and has developed a number of innovative heating and insulation solutions,
which offer significant benefits over the traditional solutions, such as
electrical trace heating and fixed insulation and cladding. One area where
there is a strong requirement is heating of certain chemicals used in
water purification, some of which can start to thicken or crystallise at
temperatures below 16°C.
Inditherm has developed a solution that can heat multiple chemical
dosing pipelines inside a single heating jacket. The alternative is to
heat and insulate each line individually, which is time consuming and
makes later access difficult. Using Inditherm's solution offers several
major benefits, such as rapid installation time, ease of access and
maintenance, and significant energy savings.
Based upon experience gained from previous
contracts, the Company has recently launched an improved range of heating
jackets for chemical dosing lines. These come in various widths and
consist of a heating element comprising Inditherm's unique, patented
carbon polymer technology, mounted on foam insulation and encased in a welded, waterproof outer
envelope that can be folded to encase all the pipes. The
cover is secured in place using Velcro and the whole unit placed
in standard cable trays or ducts, along with the power
supply cables. Running at 24V to 48V, they are
also completely safe and draw very low power.
Inditherm is already an approved supplier to some UK water utilities
and their alliance partners under the new Asset Management Programme
(AMP4) that is aimed at improving the quality of both drinking water and
waste water. Utilities can save considerable energy and maintenance costs
using Inditherm solutions, which also include removable covers for
pipework, pumps and chemical storage tanks.
